About Atrium Glaskunst

Stained glass window in the Atrium Glaskunst atelier

Atrium Glaskunst is a family business that has devoted itself to the craft of leaded stained glass for more than 35 years.

The strength of our atelier lies in the fusion of three complementary disciplines: the mastery of the craft techniques of glass, the rationality of architecture, and the technical precision of execution. Every project is carried by our team, which brings these areas of expertise together. Would you like to get to know us or discuss a project? We'd be glad to hear your plans and explore together what is possible.

Portrait of Mieke

Mieke Verwaetermeulen

At the heart of Atrium Glaskunst lies Mieke's long-standing experience. Through her studies in stained glass at Luca School of Arts and a passion for the fine arts, she brings a deep artistic layering to every project. With the grant she received as a laureate of the Belgian Foundation Vocatio, she founded her own atelier — which she now runs together with her husband and daughter.

Her mastery of classical and modern glass-painting techniques — including historic glass painting — allows us to push the limits of the material. For her, restoration and design flow seamlessly into one another — the craft feeds the creativity, and the other way around.

Portrait of Pia

Pia Espinosa

Pia graduated with a Master's in Architecture from Luca School of Arts. From that background, she always starts from the logic of the building: light, space, scale, and context. Fascinated by the possibilities of leaded stained glass, she made the deliberate choice to join the family atelier and dedicate herself to a field where architecture, craft, and art come together.

Her spatial approach ensures that each window is not only aesthetically but also functionally and structurally in balance with the architecture. She follows every project with great care, from design through to installation, maintaining quality throughout.

Portrait of Ivan

Ivan Espinosa

Ivan is responsible for the technical realisation of the projects. With years of experience, he translates designs into buildable constructions — from welding and load-bearing structures through to on-site installation. His practical insight and technical precision ensure that even the most complex designs are correctly and carefully executed.

Drawing on his experience, he thinks alongside the team to find technical solutions that reconcile design intentions with the practical realities of fabrication and installation. His expertise ensures that every project is not just conceived, but carefully realised — making him the indispensable link between design and reality.
